Crew Chronicles: NBA Finals Game 1 Review
In a first, I completely botched a recording for this website. I conducted a Crew round-table with Justin Harris, Calvin Thomas, and Andrew Wilson, but after the show, I got busy and didn't save it. Smh. I was pissed.
Well, fear not, I remember what happened, so I will just transcribe it. You can't duplicate those type of convo's by rerecording.
Last night, The Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in game 1 of the NBA Finals. The game, was absolutely great, and felt like a heavyweight championship fight.
In regulation, Step Curry, the reigning MVP, had an opportunity to give the Warriors the lead with a lay up, but Cleveland guard Kyrie Irving rejected his shot, and gave his team an opportunity to close it out.
Lebron had the ball, with a chance to finish his spectacular 44 point night with a game winner, but instead settled for a fall-away three point attempt, and the game went into overtime.
In overtime, the Warriors took control and never let it go. Kyrie Irving was injured and had to leave the game and the court, with an apparent left leg injury of some sort. The hand writing was on the wall.
In the end, the Warriors defeated the Cavs 108-100.
When speaking to the Crew and asking there thoughts on the game, here are few highlights of the conversation.
Andrew Wilson: " It's over. With Kyrie going down, its over. They needed to win game 1. They had their chance." "It's not all on Lebron. He played hard but had little help. They were not making any shots from the perimeter. They zoned the Cavs up in the 4th and locked down the shooters." " No way Cleveland wins this series if Kyrie isn't healthy.........."
Calvin Thomas: "Lebron settled for a bad shot and the lost falls on him. You don't settle for a 30 foot shot fading away from the basket at the end of regulation." "It's over" "Lebron bailed them out and shot a terrible percentage" " Steph and Klay didn't have great game and they still won........."
Justin Harris: "This one is on Lebron. He was backing them down all night going to the hole, but when it counted, he settled for a terrible shot." "Kyrie would have never gotten hurt had Lebron closed it out in regulation." "Cavs will win game 2 and the series in 6, like I predicted....."
Larry Causion Jr: "If Kyrie is done, the Cavs are done. I can't put the lost on Lebron, as he played his ass off. JR gave them nothing. They didn't knock down shots and the offense was all on Lebron for many possessions, though Kyrie played well. Should have went small. That last play was good defense by Iguadala. Tough lost on the road...."
